August 2024 Recap |
September 9, 2024 | |
For the month of August the EMS Division handled 155 calls for service.
Fire Training: Three department fire trainings were held this month. The first was ventilation training conducted on our roof prop simulator at station 403. The second was a joint training hosted by Paradise Fire Company with several other mutual aid agencies on water supply and tanker operations. The third was our annual department burn at West Chester Training Center. PVFD spent the day running several scenarios on Engine and Truck company operations at building fires in the training building under live fire conditions. Opportunities like this to give as close to real world experiences as possible is invaluable for training our members. EMS Training: There was no formal department wide EMS training for the month of August, but several members completed individual continuing education credits, as well as a few smaller informal training sessions on specific topics from on duty crews. We also hosted our first annual Intermediate Advance Life Support (IALS) competency training day for our advanced providers in preparation for our services being upgraded to IALS in September. Community Events: August 2nd was the Paradise Township Community Days picnic. PVFD Fire and EMS units were at the event along with other local community agencies and organization. PVFD Fire and EMS units were on display for the attendees to see and learn about the apparatus we have. Truck 403 also gave bucket rides and assisted with a candy drop! |
