For the month of May the Fire Division handled 16 calls for service. Station 403 responded to 11 calls and Station 405 responded to 10 calls.

EMS training for the month was a presentation from Dr Brendan Mulcahy from Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health on fire scene rehab.
Fire training for the month had stations 403 and 405 with a joint training on vehicle rescue operations. Crews worked through two different scenarios where they had occupants trapped in vehicles and needed to extricate them in order to get them in care of EMS. We would like to thanks Null's Towing for providing the vehicles for training!
This month PVFD Fire and EMS units assisted with Pequea Valley School District's end of the the year Spring Fling. Truck 403, Ambulance 402, and the EMS Supervisor were on scene with Engine 441 (Intercourse Fire Company) for a show and tell of the units along with bucket rides from Truck 403.
This month was a special month for some of our EMS crews as well. On January 19th 2024 as Lancaster County was getting our first significant snowfall of the year, PVFD Ambulance 402 was at the local coffee shop our on duty crews visit regularly. The crew from Ambulance 402 was approached by a motorist who was on the way to the hospital with his wife who was in active labor. Crews assisted the patient into the ambulance and began transport to Penn Medicine Women's and Babies Hospital. Met with additional crews from PVFD EMS and Penn Med 1 (Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Prehospital Physician) in route, PVFD EMS staff was able to assist with the delivery of a baby girl prior to arrival at the hospital! On May 6th our crews received a visit at the station by mom, dad and baby. The crew was also awarded with their prehospital delivery pins issued by the Emergency Health Services Federation and presented by Andy Rennie (Penn Medicine Manager of EMS Outreach, Education and Prevention).
