October's companywide EMS training was on Addiction Medicine: Common Street Drugs. The training was taught by guest lecturer Dr West from Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. Individually, several members continued progressing through crew chief training, driver training, completed annual continuing education for certification and participated in impromptu skill labs during duty shifts throughout the month.
For the month of October there were two companywide fire trainings. The first was a night focused on riding assignments of both the Engine and Tower company. Crews preformed several "run in" scenarios as the first arriving units on structure assignments. The second was a night focused specifically on Truck work. The crews spent the reviewing all the ground ladders on the Engine and Tower. Several drills were then run with members deploying ground ladders around buildings at the fire house.
In addition to calls and training, October provided several opportunities for community engagement events including a public education day for local schools, two EMS standbys at Pequea Valley High School for their home football games, EMS standby at New Holland Parade and the Paradise Township Trunk or Treat. |
