For the month of March the Fire Division handled 16 calls for service. Station 403 responded to 10 calls and Station 405 responded to 11 calls. EMS training for the month was a review on medical emergencies related to altered mental status taught by Penn State Health EMS Physicians. Our inhouse EMT program hit the halfway mark this month wrapping up medical emergencies and have now transitioned into trauma emergencies.
Individual station fire training for the month had station 403 reviewing ladders and working on truck skills for our tower riders. Station 405 spent the evening working on hoseline advancement and engine company skills.
Joint department fire training for the month took our department to the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center. The evening's topic was on searches. Crews completed several scenarios where they encountered low and zero visibility conditions and were required to complete search's for "victims".
This month we also had our largest fundraiser of the year, our 56th annual Spring Mud Sale. This event brings people from all over the country for this Friday Evening/All Day Saturday event. Preliminary numbers reporting this is our biggest fundraiser to date, Thank You all who came out and supported us!

March 21st crews from Ambulance 401, Ambulance 402, and Medic 440 (Wellspan ALS) assisted with the delivery of a baby girl. This is the second delivery for PVFD EMS crews so far in 2024!

March 11th PVFD Fire and EMS were dispatched to Salisbury Township at the intersection of Hensel Road and Amish Road along with units from White Horse EMS Station 49, Gap Fire Company Station 42, Medic 440 (Wellspan ALS) and Medic 566 (Lancaster EMS) for an MVA with reported entrapment. Engine 405 arrived and confirmed a 2 vehicle accident with one person confined. Fire crews worked on extricating the patient, hazard control, and traffic control. Ambulance 401 was the first arriving EMS unit and preformed triage and began patient care until the arrival of additional EMS resources.
March 18th PVFD fire was dispatched to assist Garden Spot Fire Rescue Station 39 for a woods fire. Squad 405 and UTV 405 made the response with 5 personnel. Crews from PVFD helped worked the fire line and extinguishing hots spots as they went. In total 15+ acres of woods burned during this fire. |
